These terms apply when you use the Houzzy app. By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
What Houzzy is
Houzzy is a marketplace that connects people looking for homes, land and stays in Hola, Tana River with the owners, landlords and hosts who offer them. Houzzy is not a party to any rental, sale or stay agreement made between users, does not own the properties listed, and is not an estate agent unless it says so for a particular listing.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older and give your real name.
- Keep your email account secure; anyone with access to it can sign in to Houzzy as you.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile in the app.
Listing a property
- Only list a place you own or are authorised to rent out, sell or host.
- Photos, price, location and details must be accurate and current. Remove or update a listing once it is taken.
- Houzzy reviews listings and may reject, hide or remove any listing, for example if it looks misleading, duplicated or unsafe.
- When Houzzy staff list a place on an owner’s behalf, the owner confirms the details are true and may take the listing over in their own account.
Badges
“Verified owner” means Houzzy checked the person’s ID document against a selfie. “Houzzy Inspected” means Houzzy staff visited the property. Neither is a guarantee of title, condition or any outcome; always check documents yourself before paying for land or a house.
Staying safe
- Never pay a deposit or fee before you have viewed a property and confirmed the person has the right to rent or sell it.
- Keep conversations in Houzzy until a viewing or stay is confirmed. Phone numbers and emails are hidden automatically before then.
- Report anything suspicious with the report button. Houzzy may suspend accounts that are reported for scams.
What you must not do
- Post false, misleading, offensive or illegal content, or someone else’s photos without permission.
- Ask for money for a viewing, or use Houzzy to defraud, harass or discriminate against anyone.
- Try to get around contact hiding, copy listings in bulk, or interfere with how Houzzy works.
Payments
Houzzy does not currently take payments. Any money paid between users (rent, deposits, purchase prices, stay fees) is arranged directly between them, and Houzzy is not responsible for it. If Houzzy introduces payments or fees, they will be shown clearly before you agree to them.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you post. You give Houzzy permission to host, display, resize and share them in the app and in Houzzy’s own promotion of your listing, for as long as they are on Houzzy.
Suspension and removal
Houzzy may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other users at risk, or is required to by law. Where it is safe to do so we will tell you why.
Liability
Houzzy provides the app “as is” and does its best to keep it accurate and available, but cannot guarantee that every listing or user is genuine. To the extent the law allows, Houzzy is not liable for losses arising from agreements or payments between users. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Kenyan consumer law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and disputes go to the courts of Kenya.
